13/06/2011. Toby where is all of your maths and data results? I can see that you have a few tables and no graphs! Your task was to find the average person in room 29 and you were given two weeks to complete this. I am not happy about this and I expect to see it by Friday, you will need to do it for homework.
LI: We are learning to display our data as a bar graph.
SC:
•use discrete data
•labels and titles are used
•has a Y and X axis
•has numbers on the Y axis
•bars are seperate
•has statements about the data and results
•everything needs to be the same distance apart e.g. numbers up the side, the bars, the labels
LI: We are learning to display our data as a pie chart.
SC:
•the degrees have to be accurate.
•use protractor or compass when drawing the circle
•use titles and labels.
•may have a key
•must have a perfectly round circle
•has statements about the data and results
FIND THE AVERAGE PERSON IN OUR CLASS
LI - I am learning to use my statistic knowledge to find the average person in our class
SC - To be successful I will need to use some of the following:
tally chart
stem and leaf graph
bar graph
pie chart
pictogram
histogram
mean
median
mode
discrete data
continuous data
write 3 statements about each graph.
Your task is to find out who the average person in our is. You must always analyse your graphs and data, and make sure this analysis is evident.
To do this task you will be using discrete data and only one continuous data.
Below brainstorm as a group what discrete and continuous data you could use to help you find who the average person is in our class. Highlight all of your discrete data yellow, and continuous data green.

My average person is Bethany because her favourite colour is red and 12% of my classes favourite colour is red and is the most popular most liked colour in my class. Also her favourite sport was Other which 17% of my class has said as there favourite sport. Also her foot size is 21.1 - 22cm which is the most common foot size in room 29.
